R-Squared Solutions was recently approved as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) by the Veterans Administration. The process is rigorous, but the potential rewards make it worthwhile. So, what is SDVOSB and what is the purpose of this certification?
According to the Small Business Administration, the purpose of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concern Procurement Program is to provide procuring agencies with the authority to set acquisitions aside for exclusive competition among service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns, as well as the authority to make sole source awards to service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns if certain conditions are met. Consistent with Public Law 109-461, awarding contracts to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) firms is the highest priority within the Small Business programs for VA.
The are several requirements to be considered for and apply for the SDVOSB certification, but for R-Squared Solutions, this means that our company now has the opportunity to bid on contracts that are identified for this category (SDVOSB), which limits the bidders who can respond, and thus allowing businesses like us to compete with like businesses in size and focus. In a way, it helps to narrow the playing field.
“Of course, this is only the first step,” said Bill “Roto” Reuter, president of R-Squared Solutions. “We need to continuing working hard to inform, seek out, and use our business acumen to target opportunities where we have the best probability to win. We now have a unique qualifier to help us win additional contracts.”
